    I never leave reviews but nuevo sol was one of the best restaurants in the East Bay. So sad they are closed. Beautiful food beautiful family business I was blessed to know this spot.

    Nuevo Sol is fire. As an El Cerrito resident originally from Los Angeles, California, attending UC Berkeley, I've come here numerous times with my roommate. We both enjoy this Mexican brunch spot immensely. Their chile rellenos and chilaquiles are out of this world. I highly recommend the Mexican food here. Although I haven't tried their breakfast, it looks delicious. This place is great and offers authentic Mexican cuisine that is hard to find elsewhere. All their meals are made from scratch.Look forward to living, loving, and enjoying life with a meal from Nuevo Sol.

    My best friend and I got together for brunch and wanted to check out Nuevo Sol after seeing the high ratings! Considering I live nearby, I'm surprised I'd never seen this restaurant. After dining here, I'm already looking forward to coming back with others! The restaurant is comfortable in size with several tables inside as well as in their back patio--the patio is the way to go! When we entered, we were greeted with smiles and recommendations which was appreciated. You order and pay at the counter and your food is brought to you, items such as utensils and water are self-serve. The aroma of the food being cooked circulates through air and our meals were delivered quickly. Nuevo Sol's menu is impressive with hearty American and Mexican breakfast and lunch items. For the items, prices are affordable. Myself and my friend had the Huevos Rancheros, I opted for no dairy and with refried beans. This is the first time I recall having the dish and it was fresh, filling, and a great combination of flavors. Portions are generous as well and I look forward to trying their other offerings. For a wonderful and casual Mexican American brunch location, Nuevo Sol is a hidden gem. Located off San Pablo Ave. it's easy to pass by so drive slow, parking is limited to the street or neighborhood. I'm grateful to have found a delightful and different brunch spot in my area.

    Had to leave a review immediately this place was so good. I've had Nuevo Sol bookmarked for a while now, and finally got to make the stop. The five star reviews are well deserved. This place is cranking out authentic Mexican food that just hits the spot. The chilaquiles were perfect, and the tacos were so tender with some amazing salsa to pair. A must stop when you're in Berkeley/ Oakland area. Can't get over how delicious our meal was
